I enjoy working with graduate students who are motivated to learn and who want to understand what they are learning.

I understand your needs are different from a business person. I use a more flexible approach with graduate students. Sometimes I might direct you to a good site to learn about something, rather than fully explaining it myself (I'd be there to help after you attempt to self-educate), because you will need to understand that 'something' when you defend your dissertation or other graduate level work.

Pricing

First: You get a 30% discount off the top, with one exception. If your timeline is tight and you need something ASAP, then you are competing for my time with my "regular" business clients. In that case, that particular part of my work would be charged my full rate, but only if I am in the middle of another project. My full rate is $75/hr., which makes my 30% off graduate student rate $52.50/hr.

Second: Often I do not charge for "correspondence" or "education" time. When I need clarification from you, or I need to explain something in greater depth, I usually stop the clock.

Target Services Offered

While you can choose from any of the services I offer throughout my site, services most appropriate to graduate students include:

Review of data gathering devices: You create a questionnaire or focus group topic guide, and I review it for (1) question wording (clarity & bias), and (2) to maximize its data gathering potential (e.g., turn a categorical variable into a scaled one).

Online survey administration: I can "html-ize" your survey and administer it through my web site. You are responsible for recruiting respondents (simply a matter of sending an invitation email, or you can do telephone interviews and enter results into an online form). The online survey automatically creates a tab-delimited data file which I can convert to Excel for your use.

(or) You administer survey: Of course, you could also gather the data on your own (e.g., telephone or personal interviews, paper-and-pencil surveys, observation protocols), enter it (I can do data entry for small data sets) and forward that file to me for processing.

Significance testing and Memo: Depending on your choice of tables software (WinCross or SPSS...see my Tables page), I can produce a memorandum listing the significant interactions. I do not analyze the results unless your advisor says I can. In most cases, the professor wants the student to do the analysis. However, I can be a second set of ears off which to bounce ideas.

Regardless of your choices, my final product to you will contain the information you need to write your final report.

Review of reporting: I can serve as another set of eyes to review your report. I won't do any writing for you, but I can indicate parts I find clear and strong, parts I find less clear, and parts I particularly like.
